A Day in the Life
Our days at Condon Early Learning Center begin with a hug, a high five, or a warm smile as our teachers greet each child at the door. From the moment our children arrive, we focus on building the relationships which are the foundation of engaged learning. Our days are filled with joy and laughter as we explore and experience our classroom materials together.
Children build their fine motor skills through daily art explorations...
... through regular sensory experience like playing with water, play doh or sand...
... and through novel experiences like popping bubble wrap or peeling strategically placed tape off of tables
Outdoor play is a daily opportunity to build large motor skills, explore nature, relax in the great outdoors and play active games with friends and teachers.
We serve a nutritious breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack every day through our participation in the Child and Adult Care Food Program. Meal time is not only an opportunity to nourish our bodies, but it is also a time for children and teachers to socialize and enjoy each other's company. Teachers facilitate conversations and model interactions.
Meal time also provides opportunities for children to learn independence by helping to set and clean up the table, serve their own food and pour their own drinks. Setting the table and serving food also facilitate the development of basic math skills as children put out one napkin per child or count one scoop full of food.
Condon ELC complies with the USDA Non-Discrimination Statement at all times.
With the knowledge that children learn best when given the opportunity for long periods of play, open ended play time makes up a critical portion of our daily schedule. Our teachers intentionally put out materials and arrange our environments to encourage the children to question, to wonder, and to explore through their play.
All of our children are given the opportunity to nap every day. Our infants each nap on their own schedules, while our older children nap at a set time. As our preschoolers begin to outgrow their naps, they are still provided quiet time each day to relax and re-energize before the afternoon's activities begin.
Books, and the development of strong language / literacy skills are an ever-present part of our daily lives. Children explore books on their own, enjoy cuddling up for an individual story, and listen to exciting adventures as a group.
In addition to in class explorations, we have special activities including daily music and movement classes, monthly yoga and art with a local artist in residence.
